Project “The Flight” kicks off – Winner of Lazio Street Art Call for Proposals 2nd Edition

I am excited to announce that the project “Il Volo,” for which I am a curator and part performer, has officially kicked off.
This project proposed by the Accademia Dei Romani – Fine Arts Institute, carried out in partnership with the Social Promotion Association “Azione Cittadina”, supported by the Culture Office of the City of Guidonia Montecelio winner of the Lazio Street Art Competition 2nd Edition 2022, will include two artistic interventions: an “artist’s intercom” in mosaic in Collefiorito di Guidonia and a 25 linear meter mural in Villalba di Guidonia.
A common theme of the interventions, chosen by master Gerardo Lo Russo, artist and referent for the Accademia Dei Romani, “Il Volo,” as the symbolic element of the “City of Air,” born around the Alfredo Barbieri airport, capable of connecting the different districts of the second largest municipality in Lazio, after Rome.
Performers and interpreters of the works, Tatsiana Pagliani ArTat Pag for the Collefiorito intervention, and myself, for the Villalba mural.

An Artist Intercom in Collefiorito

The first intervention consists of an “artist’s” intercom made with the mosaic technique in Collefiorito. This project aims to transform an everyday urban element into a work of art. The goal is to bring beauty and creativity to a context, otherwise far from these practices. While the graphic design of the project belongs to artist and master Gerardo Lo Russo, the realization was by artist Tatsiana Pagliani, who with dedication and passion interpreted the graphic design proposed to her.

A 25 m Mural in Villalba

The second intervention, for which, under a commission from Master Lo Russo, I became the interpreter and executor, involves the creation of a 25-line meter mural in Villalba. Built in front of the A. Manzi, it will be an important work of art, upgrading a blighted area of the city. The theme of Flight, was reinterpreted through artificial intelligence techniques, a technology dear to the writer, leading to the creation of 34 different graphics that mix the silhouette of a child with that of an airplane. The hope, to sensitize new generations to identity themes for the territory of Guidonia Montecelio, such as flight for that matter, an explicit reference to the airport around which the city was born, through digital techniques, which best suit the new generations. The mural will not only add color and vibrancy to the neighborhood, but also convey a message of hope and freedom, in keeping with the theme of the project.

Collaboration and Support

Despite the difficulties that can be encountered when implementing projects of this scale, I cannot help but thank my friends and colleagues who are actively participating in the implementation of the interventions. In addition to the entire Municipal Administration, in the figures who have succeeded each other over time, always supporting the project, special thanks go to artist Tatsiana Pagliani and Cristian Diano of the Citizen Action Association for their invaluable support and dedication. Without them, this project would not have been possible.

Stay Tuned

I invite you to stay tuned to follow the evolution of this project, to expect new updates and other surprises…which I am sure….will come! 🙂 Stay tuned!
