Winner of the Lazio Street Art Competition 2nd Edition, the“Il Volo” project, of which I was curator and performer, was conceived with the aim of upgrading urban spaces in the municipal area, transforming them into places of culture and beauty.
The intent was to create a work that would represent the unique identity of Guidonia Montecelio.
At the suggestion of artist Gerardo Lo Russo, the concept of “flight,” a central theme in the master’s poetics, was born.
Flight was chosen as a symbol of progress and continuous research, reflecting the municipal identity and deep connection with Alfredo Barbieri Airport, one of the symbols of Guidonia Montecelio, known as the City of Air.
The artistic intervention included the creation of two site-specific artworks, created by two artists from the Accademia Dei Romani, Tatsiana Pagliani and myself.
Both reinterpreted the theme of flight, proposed by master Lo Russo, creating works that dialogue with the urban environment and celebrate the identity of the area.
1st Intervention
Created by artist Tatsiana Pagliani, an ordinary intercom has been transformed into a work of art with the use of mosaic.
The colors and shapes, inspired by flight and freedom, make this everyday object a symbol of connection between people and art.
The work, which reinterprets the graphics of master Lo Russo, is meant to be an invitation to observe what surrounds us with new eyes, finding beauty even in the simplest details.
FIRST.
NOW.
2nd Intervention
Measuring 50 meters long, with a total area of 150 square meters, extending on both sides of the chain of anti-noise bandons that circumscribe the Alberto Manzi School in Villaba di Guidonia, this mural created by the writer symbolizes human aspiration toward new perspectives and possibilities for research.
The portrayed graphics, created through artificial intelligence algorithms, mix the image of a child with that of an airplane.
As an emerging technology, AI represents the pinnacle of contemporary research, embodying that idea of progress, of vital momentum, which makes man, an eternal Ulysses.
The whole thing was rendered in a cartoon/cartoon style, to bring the project closer to the younger generation, who attend the adjacent school.
The colors used, the official colors of the municipality of Guidonia Montecelio, reflecting the identity intent of the project.
FIRST.
NOW.
Our city.
Not only dumpsters burned in the middle of the street.
